How to Reset Programs on iOS
Force Quit a Program
If a program is frozen or unresponsive, you can force it to quit. To do this:
- On an iPhone X or later: Swipe up from the bottom of the screen and pause in the middle. Swipe left or right to find the app you want to quit.
- On an iPhone 8 or earlier: Double-click the Home button. Swipe left or right to find the app you want to quit.
Once you’ve found the app you want to quit, swipe up on its card.
Reset a Program’s Settings
If a program is behaving strangely, you can reset its settings. To do this:
- Open the Settings app.
- Tap on the program you want to reset.
- Tap on «Reset.» (If you don’t see the «Reset» option, the program’s settings cannot be reset.)
- Tap on «Reset All Settings.» (If you see the «Reset All Settings» option, the program’s settings will be reset to their default values.)
Reinstall a Program
If you’ve tried the previous steps and the program is still not working, you can try reinstalling it. To do this:
- Tap and hold on the program’s icon on the home screen.
- Tap on the «X» that appears in the corner of the icon.
- Tap on «Delete.» (If you don’t see the «Delete» option, the program cannot be uninstalled.)
- Go to the App Store and reinstall the program.

- Select your device.
- Select the program that you’re having problems with.
